In conjunction with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, Ducks Unlimited will soon start wetland enhancement work at the William S. Huey Wildlife Management Area near Artesia. Work will involve construction of a small water delivery system to provide water for a new 50-acre moist-soil unit, levee work on existing units, enhancement of an oxbow lake and improvements to 90 acres of waterfowl roost ponds.

The 2,880-acre Huey WMA is on the Pecos River between Artesia and Carlsbad in southern New Mexico.
